I asked my wife to pick up my Strattera from the local drug store, which is a specialist drug stoire that stocks every medication you could imagine but employs a pretty scruffy bunch. I open it last night and notice that the capsules are a different color. "That's weird I think, Strattera is too new for a generic."
It turns out that they are a tricyclic called Doxepin Hydrochloride.
I was astounded. If I were less familar I would have just taken them!

>Doxepin Hydrochloride
Sinequan vs Strattera. They don't sound that similar!
Names that do sounds similar.....
Trimipramine vs trimeprazine- can be confusing!
Chlorpromazine vs clomipramine vs chlorpropamide vs chlormethiazole vs chlordiazepoxide

Find a new drug store. Also take back the med and ask to see the original Rx. Then bring the mistake to the managers attention. This is dangerous. Fondly, Phillipa

I was given Surmontil a TCA instead of Lamictal and I didn't know. I had not been on Lamictal to know what it look like and I thought there was a generic form. I was on a MAOI at the time. I kept slowly titrating up and once I reach 100 mg for a few weeks I became so ill I had to go to the ER. This was in 2002 and it's still being investigated by the Order of Pharmacists.

I googled and saw some reports suggesting 3% of drugs were mis-supplied. Imagine ephidrine/epinepherine ?

I bet it's more than 3 percent, especially in the elderly.

the medication I picked up two more prescriptions. One of them was a prescription for brand Dexedrine (DAW) and was filled as Barr Generic Dexedrine.Agh!
