Does anyone have any suggestions?
I'm on my 4th pdoc right now and am not happy with her.
Very disappointing.

I've heard that the major hospitals in Boston have excellent psychiatrists. You aren't too far from there.
I haven't had any experience yet with any good pdocs. Even my GP can't refer me to one, because he says he doesn't know any good ones around here. Pdocs I have had seemed less knowledgable, less empathetic, and less creative than GPs.
In my experience, some GPs are far better than pdocs. It's easier to find a good GP who knows psychiatry real well than it is to find a good pdoc. At least that's my experience.
Try calling the emergency rooms of local hospitals and see if they can suggest some names. The doctors in the emergency rooms know this stuff really well.

Thank you Blueberry. It's funny that you would say that about Boston. I just had my first appointment with a doctor at the Mass General Bipolar Clinic and Research Center, affiliated with Harvard Med School. I thought, this has to be the center of research on bipolar illness, this has to be great. It took me an hour and a half to get there, I saw a new doctor, and she wasn't impressive at all. Forgetful, blank expression on her face, not confidence inspiring. Maybe some of the older doctors there are great -- but none of them accept new patients. Uggh. Maybe I'll warm up to her though. I'm still giving it a chance,
That's a good idea about asking emergency rooms. Or even the psychiatric units in local hospitals. THey must know first hand who sucks and who really helps their patients.
