Higher dose - what would happen?

Posted by TrishP on August 24, 2005, at 14:05:48

I'm taking 75mg of Effexor and I've really liked it. I also take Wellbutrin 200mg. My doc would really like to go up on both.

I know Wellbutrin 300mg makes me sleepy. I haven't tried going up on the Effexor because I'm afraid it will impact sex - which is why I'm taking the Wellbutrin - to counteract the side effect of the Effexor.

Would I totaly lose my drive and ability if I went up on my dose of Effexor?

So far it is the only drug to make me normal.

I don't think you will lose your drive/ability if you went up on the Effexor. At your current dose, Effexor only inhibits the reuptake of Serotonin. At mid doses (>150mg), it inhibits the reuptake of both Norepinephrine and Serotonin. At high doses (over 300mg), it works on Dopamine as well. So with that, I don't think it would hurt your drive and may actually help it instead.
