Hello all,
I was just curious if anyone experienced weight gain from Xanax?
I heard it increases your appetite, and that is why it could lead to weight gain.
I've been gaining weight, and I"m not sure if it is because of the Xanax, or perhaps a poor diet.
Thanks so much,
Best Wishes,
Violet

Probably shouldn't post cuz I lost weight, BUT I was also doped up on a narcotic, both pretty much legal speed. That stuff decreased my appetite big time, I loved it, but it didn't love me.
Did you just begin another medication recently?

... it makes you sleep more than normally or less active. obviously, if you are not moving around as much as you normally do.
and even if you are as active as ever, xanax could slow down your metabolism. every med affects everyone differently.

I've been on all the benzo's (minus Valium) and none of them have ever caused weight gain for me.
Actually since I started on all these crazy meds, I've lost weight (but I've been sick too).

Xanax never caused me to gain wt either. And when it was working it eased the anxiety so I could do more. Fondly, Phillipa

I notice whenever I take .25mg or .5mg xanax I get the munchies. For me, being real skinny, that's a good thing.
