Zoloft for depression + inability to focus?

Posted by KikiCabell on October 6, 2005, at 16:28:22

Is Zoloft the correct prescription for someone who is depressed but, even more than that, unfocused? Also this is for a male, about 38. Will there be sexual side effects? Any info re: this med would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have heard good reports from people in real life that zoloft worked for them. The sexual part I don't know. I took 50mg of zoloft for a while and it didn't do anything. If I'd continued it I should have tried going up in dose. Fondly,Phillipa

Being on Zoloft seems to have harmed my short-term memory and abilit to concentrate. I am not certain that this was due to the Zoloft, but it did coincide with my using it. There is speculation that this might be due to dopamine suppression caused by SSRIs. In any event, it certainly did not help with cognitive functions. It did, however, make me less anxious and less perfectionistic.

I found it was much better than the other SSRI's for cognition.
