I took 1mg Risperidone (still on 150 Seroquel)
Within hours a mild depression and annoying akathisia set in. I took 5mg Xanax (usual dose 2mg)and it abated somewhat....i would have preferred Valium ofcourse....
A psychiatrist once told me that "they say Risperidone has few s/effects, but I am a big disbeliever in that"
I now believe him.
I will now start Abilify at 10mg mane
Wish me luck and tell me all success stories for any disorder with abilify!

If your prone to akathisia I would start Abilify at 5mg.

Abilify was helpful at times for my depression. It was pretty much weight/appetite neutral for me. I would also recommend starting at 5mg. 10mg was too much for me starting out... in fact, I did much better at 2.5mg. Good luck,

hey! ok, im not a big fan of atypicals in general but...abiify is OK. I'd keep it at or below 10mgs; above that, you might really lose an edge Abilify has over other antipsychotics. If you get start up anxiety, I guess you could try upping the xanax or maybe adding something for a couple weeks to see if that helps...sometimes people can tough it out and ABilify works for them; sometimes its just too much to handle and they have to switch it out.
