Hi, Med Emp, Ed,.. Med E.; I did a google search and found your post about abilify and anxiety - very encouraging for me as I've given almost everything a therapeutic run, and am really looking for something to alleviate the depression/anxiety and psychosis, without causing foggyness. Q; :~ does the abilify continue to help with your anxiety, and
2: I think you may have mentioned it but do you mind if I ask if you're taking it for unipolar depression or bipolar - I'm looking at it for unipolar, +anxiety + psychosis, most of the info. I've read talks about it in bipolar depression.
3: Is the anxiety that some 24% of patients taking abilify describe, often transient?I got horrible anxiety from seroquel and I read somewhere that aripip. and seroquel were chemically similar, just a posting somewhere, but if anyone might be able to shed any light on that, the seroquel 'trip' is on I'd rather not take again can shed any light on that :~ , I'm wondering if there's any parallels in our conditions Thanks
Ben
- your post on abilify and anxiety -
Hey! Abilify helped considerably with my anxiety at low doses (5-7.5mgs) and continued to have an anti-anxiety effect at higher doses over an extended period of time. That said, if you're only dealing with anxiety, why not try a benzo or buspar, or something of that nature? Neuroleptics can, of course, be useful, but they carry risks that other drugs do not.

Hi Ben
Med doesn't take Abilify any more. AFAIK, he found it beneficial at low doses but unpleasant and counter-productive at high doses eg. 10mg or more. I think his experience at the high dose put him off Abilify for good!
Regards
Ed

Thought he was on low dose abilify. I think it likes it better than the others. Fondly, Phillipa
