Hey folks...
I have ramped up my Topamax to 400mg daily. I get NIL side effects from this drug, and as a mood stabalizer it may not be QUITE as strong as Depakote/Epival, but seems so much more easier and cleaner to take...and it doesn't leave me in despair. Combined with AD's and AP's,and BZ's, it seems to be a great drug. It is now generic in Canada, which means I can afford as much as I want to. After years of weight gain, mental dulling, and endless sleep caused by AP's and other MS's, I'd really like to hear others stories with Topamax.

I was on it too for a bit. Did you get the freaky side effects?
1)Food? What the hell is that?
2)Soda tastes like piss
3)I am a harvard grad and now I can't string two words together to form any kind of coherent sentence:-)

Hi JH...Sorry you had a bad time with the drug. I have tappered onto it over two years, so maybe I am lucky and avoided many side-effects. I dunno. I have just gone up to 400mg a day, and am feeling SOME mood stabalization, but not as 'concrete' like Epival/Depakote. Mind you, I was taking 1,500mg of the stuff!(And feeling it too...as in 'numb'!) I am just sick and tired of how the atypical antipsychotics tend to make me feel more depressed (now that I have been on them for awhile.)

I was on topomax 800mg/day 400 morning and night. i was forgetful, couldn't get the right words, vision was off, didn't trust myself driving, little spacy, anything carbonated tasted like piss...horrible, couldn't get a buzz when I drank alcohol(not that you are supposed to drink when on it) beer tasted like sh*t also!!)Was looking forward to weight loss....never got it! couldn't do simple math!
