Cymbalta and Wellbutrin

Posted by ShellyM on March 5, 2006, at 15:38:47

I have a long history of anxiety, panic attacks and depression. I have been taking 60mg Cymbalta and 75mg of Trazedone (for sleep) for about 4 months. Both drugs have worked really well for me (a minor miracle after trying many AD's for years which either didn't work for me or pooped out).

The problem is I am so tired and lethargic most of the time. I've tried reducing the Trazedone to 50mg but then I wake up after about 4-5 hours and can't go back to sleep.

What do you think about taking Wellbutrin with the Cymbalta? I've heard that Wellbutrin can be stimulating, which I think I need if I want to keep my job and my husband. I am a bit concerned about a lot of the posts I read that talk about Wellbutrin causing increased anxiety.

Any insights or recommendations welcomed.

Shelly

hmmm...wellbutrin can make anxiety really, really intense, although it can be kind of uplifting, too. Maybe Pamelor (a TCA) would be better. If you add BuSpar or (better yet) a short-term benzo, you might not have any problems w/ the wellbutrin.

Wellbutrin landed me in the hospital with manic traits. Sorry to be negative. Why not stop the trazadone and substitute it with ambien or lunesta. Fondly, Phillipa

I take 60mg Cymbalta, 150mg Wellbutrin and 500mg Depakote and the combo works well. I'm not sure how I'd do without the Depakote though (it helps with sleep, anxiety and mood stabilization).
