New Trials Exploring Cogntive Enhancers for A-P's.

Just to let you know, I see a doc who's on the Harvard faculty, and he's told me that he's familiar with ongoing trials in recent years that are exploring the benefits of cogntive enhancers for patients coping with the cognitive impairments often associated with antipsychotics.

Cogntive enhancers being explored include drugs used for dementia, such as Reminyl and Aricept.

I don't take antipsychotics, but once was prescribed by a benzophobe Risperdal .5mg 3x/day a few years ago. I just remember feeling so foggy in my head, I was literally on the floor agonizing over how my head could feel so dull.

I remember trying to take 30mg of Adderall (my regular dose was 20mg, so I was experimenting) and finding just benign relief with that.

I stopped it promptly after two or three days... my doc was like, "Well, you could have called me, and we could have added Provigil. These side effects mostly only hit for the first month or so."

True, but, I really didn't care. It was only social anxiety... =)

I know that aricept is used pretty frequently to counter act the cognitive side effects of SSRI(i.e word finding problems, etc). It might be a good drug for you considering that it also tends to have anti-anxiety properties.
