I have a tremor from lithium. So finally last week I had my psychiatrist prescribe Inderal for me. So far, it hasn't worked. I've been increasing my dose every day. Today I have taken 70mgs and then 80mgs four hours later. I'll probably take 90mgs soon.
I've read that people can go up to 320mgs/day of Inderal for essential tremor, which is not what I have of course, but I figure it's worth a try. After that I guess I'll give up on this drug.
But I was wondering if anyone has any other suggestions? Could another beta blocker help if Inderal doesn't? What about primidone/Mysoline, which is an anticonvulsant... I've read that can be used for tremors too. Another possibility is potassium supplementation, although I have no idea how much.
Any thoughts/experiences would be appreciated.

Did you say your blood level was 0.6? 0.4-1.0 is considered to be effective in the UK. Would a reduction in dose be an option?

I've tried reducing it to 300mgs and that turned out pretty bad.... probably not a very good idea, although I could try maybe 400 or 500. The other problem is that even at 300mgs, I still had the tremor. I guess I'm just very sensitive to it or something.
I wonder if trying the XR kind of lithium might help...?

Hi
You mentioned primidone, a barbiturate-type anticonvulsant. The problem with primidone is that is tends to aggravate or induce depression in some people. Low doses are used to treat essential tremor. I don't know whether it would affect lithium-induced tremor.
