This is what im speaking of......

Posted by willyee on June 16, 2006, at 13:29:04

Ok today was my do visit.Let me see how i can sum this horrable visit up.I get there early,its sunny,the office is nearly empty.Regardless of being the only one there i KNEW id still have a ten to 15 min wait as this is always the case even before a patient is in before me.Soi arrive 10;00 am no one calls me,people arrive in waiting room too,there is now three of us waiting on this single docter.11: 30 am nothing,we begin to tell each other how long weve been waiting,me having the longest wait of course,which was by then nearly 50 min.

The one woman gets up and starts towards the counter,a young woman,right then and there i knew she told them something that was gonna p- me off.Finaly close to 12 the doc comes out,and as i expected the woman was called in,i tried to bite my tongue,but could not,i went to the window and asked why was i bumpred?A mutter and a pointed finger came from one young girl and i just shook my head and walked away saying that aint a way u run a buisness,i mean u guys have the bible sitting right here.

Anyway i get in finaly,and YESS MY DOC SEEMS CLUELESS,i give her a a bag of what im on,i mention about wanting to continue to add something to parnate,i ask about lyrcia,she tells me its not out yet,i ask "r u sure" she reassures me then grabs her big heavy pdr,she finds it and tells me OH YES IT IS,BUT ITS NOT FDA APPROVED FOR THIS USE YET,my god woman ur a professional,i shake my head in utter disgust,i cant put in words the way this happened,but it did in such a way i gave up then and there,said fine just up the nuerorotion then.

She said yeah we havent hear anything about lyrcia at our last meeting in jan.

So to all u who think doing anything without ur p-doc well we must live in different twilight zones.

Lets see,i just wasted weeks of waiting and hope,2 hours of my morning,my cash,my hope etc,all because i depended on a professional.

I was asking her if we could lower the nuerotion,add lamictal,or add two very low anti convulants,or something,something to help me.

I GOT NOTHING,IM SOOO DISAPPOINTED I CAME BACK HOME AFTER ALL THIS TIME WITH more neurtoion,i dident even want this much,im not taking it.

Yeah agreed to lowering then neuronion,andd adding the lamictal in very low doses,then she just renegged and said well first well do this,yeah and when i go to re visist i doubt shelll remeber any of what we spoke of.

Oh and lastly for everyone who doesent do a thing without the p doc,i have to step in and correct her,not that i wanted to im so tired of it,but she asked me if the 800 mg was caps or hard tabs,ie yi yi.

Why can i sit there and be there patient,feeling confident the person in front of me knows what they are doing,none not a single one in my horried 8 yrs or so has.

People can say it to eachh other,but i will be greatly offeneded next time some one asks me why do i do things unguided my my doc,i will say,u come to a doc visit with me,until then assume i am DR in my own right.

Don't feel bad. I went to a doc this week. (Not a pdoc). Had a LONG wait, finally saw the doc, told him what I needed/wanted and he gave me three prescriptions I can't afford ($50 per month each co-pay) that will cause me terrible side effects. I told hime I was very sensitive to this med, but he wasn't listening! Needless to say, I won't be filling those prescriptions!

OH and they messed up my insurance charging me too high a co-pay, and then they will gripe because they won't get paid for claiming the wrong policy! After I told them THREE times who my insurance was with.

It isn't just pdocs. It is ALL docs! You are not alone........

Sheesh, that sucks man. I hope you can find another doctor. I hate how docs assume that if you know a lot about drugs that you must be a drug addict (or something, I'm not sure what they think). They also assume that just because you didn't go to medical school, that you don't know what might be best for you. I mean, I can make some deductions about what might be good for me based on what I've taken before. I have some idea of what works. And since I've spent time talking to you, I know you know what you're talking about. Some doctors really suck. And the waiting room situation sounds like poor office management, but I'm sure it effected your opinion of the doctor as well.

I hope you can come on some better luck!

~~~ We do.... I accept your ideas on this, it feels to me this is a real point of anger for you when others say to use a pdoc as the member of the team (including very much the individual) to come up with a plan for treatment. I think on a board like this, it's the only safe, prudent, and LEGAL (??) advice to give. What one does in their own life is their business but FOR MASS COMSUMPTION on a mental public board, well, everybody does have their own take.....
My sorry your relationship with your pdoc isn't as it should be.
Yeeeow. Bummer.
I hate when drs. make you sit there for ages waiting. Plus dont' know what they're talking about.
Will, you should get another pdoc. Mine is really nice, knows what he's doing, and sometimes forgets details about me (I go in very infrequently, so I don't mind reminding him) and sees me on time.
One time, I had a dr. appt.--not a pdoc, but--and I had been pressured to shorten a T appt. to get there on time, and then she made me wait about an hour and a half, literally. Also, her secretary didn't answer when I called to see if she was on time.
So I'm waiting. In this tiny cramped waiting room. With no notice about anything. And I notice that this weird guy is sitting right across from me, with a woman I assume is his wife. And this guy is a comic on a late-night comedy show on TV, that I happen to watch.
About a week later, I'm watching this show--- and this very same Doctor is on the show, in a short bit, as an "expert" making silly comments.
I dunno: do you think she kept me waiting while she taped her segment?
Needless to say, my appt. with her was rather unpleasant, and I've never seen her again.
Thanks for the understanding,also im not good with words,so when u read my post imagine the situation much worse i just really couldent word it out.
The thing is im not discourgaed cause this is the first time,i have a huge tolerance for patieance,i did phone tech support for 6 years.
HOWEVER this is just another addition to the pile of docters that i have had these types of encounters with.I tried to do my part,turn a corner and just sit there and be quiet and let them run the entire show,but i mean what in the world am i gonna do with three neurotion a day?
I really wanted her to combine the nuerotion at one a day with possably lamictal or something different.
I was with my last doc for 5 years,she was snappy,alwaus late,etc BUT we built a repor and she listened to me and was willing to try unconventional means,if i have to sign a waiver so be it,i again dont mind my part either,when my last doc took a chance at my request and add ritalin to parnate i called her the first week left her a voice mail just to tell her there was no interaction,and so far things were wll.
Turns out it wasnt a direct interaction,but togther they clashed over time and put me into a maniac state,but you can make an omelltte without breaking eggs,and id rather a doc like the one i had willing to do these things.
Now i have a pound of horse pills of neurotnion.I think my mom seeing this has finaly even convinced her that there are certain aspects im going to have to go alone in this,i know its not a big deal,i know some people are reading this saying its no biggie,but when she turned and asked me if the nuerotion was tab or capsule of 800 mg,also when she told me lyrcia wasnt out yet my stomach sank and it become crstal clear to me as much as i want to be a good boy and do only what my doc wants,that wont be the case,theres no way i can work nuerotion into 3 a day.
