I'm taking Wellbutrin (300mg) and Nortriptalyne (60mg). Because of my anxiety issues, pdoc didn't think Wellbutrin would help. It does, but not enough. I'm trying to get an appointment to see if I can increase to 450.
But it seems if I take over 60 of Nortriptalyne I have more anxiety. Does it cause the anxiety or does it just counteract the Wellbutrin. (It does help with pain though.)
Has anyone found any combo that works for both? By the way, I haven't slept through the night in over two years, so anything that would help with that would be great. My doc just says to up the Nortriptalyine. . . visious circle.

I always wake up after four hours and just repeat the meds. Are you waking because of pain or anxiety? Love Phillipa

Sometimes both, but usually I just wake up for something innocuous (husband snoring, kid had a bad dream, go to the bathroom, etc) and can't go back to sleep. I just lie there for hours, then finally fall back asleep an hour before I have to get up.
Honestly, I don't even know if it matters how many hours of sleep I get. Even when I get enough sleep, I'm still exhausted all the time.

Ambien has been a lifesaver for me in this regard.
Just knowing I can sleep takes away much anxiety.
I have been on it over a year and can only say good things about it.
Peace,
Kaye

In this post http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20060610/msgs/657659.html, Hermit told about being prescribed an opioid for fibromyaligia that helped with depression and chronic fatigue, too. The experience was mixed, however, with opioid use getting "out of hand", but Hermit still supports treatment with opioids.
Hermit's Babblemail isn't turned on, but if you post a question in that thread, Hermit might notice it — if you want to talk about that option.

>I would suggest that you have a sleep study done. The Rheumatologist I use who is great for Fibromyalgia says that many, many of her patients with FMS have sleep apnea.
I also had problems with anxiety on Wellbutrin or any of the SSRIs. Nortriptyline didn't help with sleep as much as amitriptyline. I now use Desyrel and Lyrica. My most recent sleep study showed that I sleep great on this combo, so my daytime sleepiness is "idiopathic" according to the sleep specialist. I personally believe it is caused by inflammatory factors which are part and parcel of FMS. In any case, Provigil was prescribed for the daytime sleepiness. It works only OK, but I haven't taken a full dose due to fear of anxiety as a side effect. Aerobic exercise is beneficial.
Get the sleep study done. You might benefit from a CPAP if you have apnea.

What is xyrem and how does it help???
My doctor just added Celexa, Flexeril and Relafen to my Wellbutrin and Nortriptalyne. I feel like a walking pharmacy. The Celexa seems to be helping during the day. I seem to have more energy, but am still irritable. Of course, the irritability could be due to the fact that my dad is dying of cancer. . . The flexeril helps me sleep all night, but my limbs feel like lead in the morning. I think I'll try 1/2 pill. My pain level is better now than in the last couple of years. I'm just worried about the side effects of taking all of these medications.

>It's my understanding that xyrem (GHB)is prescribed for people who have fibro with associated sleep disorder(s). This site lists a couple studies and gives some patient reports. It promotes deep sleep and release of growth hormone.
