My doctor's appointment...

Posted by Bonnie_CA on July 8, 2006, at 8:12:03

Well, I think my doctor's appointment went okay yesterday. I told him all the problems I've had with Prozac. These problems include insomnia, inability to stay asleep, agitation, irritability (the past two probably because I can't get any sleep!), dulled emotions (besides anger LOL), and my skin felt like it needed to be removed from my body. He was cool about it, and said that obviously this wasn't working for me. To be on the safe side, he put me back on Celexa, but at a higher dose. I'm going to get up to 60 mg over the course of a little over a week. Now, he has a plan laid out for if that doesn't work out. If that doesn't work, we will try Lexapro (even though they're pretty much the same drug, it MIGHT work better), and if that doesn't work, we will try Zoloft, since that's the only SSRI I haven't tried (besides Luvox, but if I didn't have any success on Prozac, why would I have success on Luvox?). He told me that I have been using Xanax responsibly, and that there shouldn't be any problem stopping it since I'm on such a low dose. My husband went with me, and that was great, since he can back up that I have been impossible to live with the last two months. I also let the doctor know how uncompassionate and irritating his assigned nurse is. He didn't seem surprised by this, so I think he's been told this before. I'm kinda thinking, since it's an HMO, that he doesn't have a choice. Oh well, at least I let him know that I really don't like her, so he made up that plan so there wouldn't be as much interpretation to be made with the nurse. He did bring up that I was very stimulated by the Prozac, and he explored the idea of me being bipolar, but then he reminded himself that I said Paxil worked well. It did work well, just had to quit for the same reason everyone else quits Paxil! (I'm married, I NEED to have sex! Plus the weight gain sucks.) Anyway, I just thought I'd post to let everyone know how my appointment went. I'm pretty sure the Celexa should work, since even though it sorta pooped 5 months ago, it still worked a bazillion times better than Prozac. I'll be in touch anyway.
