Hi,
I am wondering if anyone is able to tell me, if with Bipolar 11 is it possible when in the depression episode to have with depression a great anxiety? Meaning I am depressed, but added to this depression is extreme anxiety. Is this type of depression with anxiety possible with Bipolar 11.A response would be much appreciated, as it is of course causing me quite some extra anxiety.

Yes. It's probably more common with anxiety than without.

Hi Jenny, what you describe is exactly what I suffer from. I also used to get panic attacks, but those are almost all gone now.
Being on a mood stabilizer (I'm on Lamictal) has helped long term with the anxiety. Short term, I was on Xanax.
I also see a therapist.Good luck,

Anxiety with depression is bipolar ll? Sounds an awful lot like me. But no mood swings? Love Phillipa

Anxiety and depression are often experienced at the same time, but anxiety is not part of a bipolar II dx, as far as I know. Mood swings definitely are (for me).

Thanks Mattias I've put it in a file. My ex father-in -law is bipolar. He built an empire. Then at age 50 something he went off the edge with all the mania. And twice a year he'd go off his meds to lose weight. So then two weeks of mania followed by depressions so bad he couldn't even talk. Just sat in a chair. Thanks again, Love Jan
