Wow, I cant believe I have been on it for 28 days. I have been diagnosed with anxiety primarily, and then depression. The pdocs thought the anxiety was masking the depression, hence the trial of Ensam.
Do I feel better on Day 28 than I did on Day 1? Yes most certainly. I'm not saying Emsam is the perfect drug or even the right drug for me, but life is "bearable" while on it and I plan to contine taking it for at least two more weeks.
If it's the only difference I notice, it's that Emsam is a little activating. Gives you energy, which I am not sure I need with anxiety. However, I also take 150mg of Seroquel and 3mg of Klonopin, and they both seem to help with the anxiety, especially the Seroquel.
During the first two weeks of Emsam, I took off my patch at night because I didn't sleep well. Well, I guess that was anxiety from taking Emsam (it's a MAOI for gosh sakes). Oh well, the last two weeks I have worn the patch 24/7 and sleep just fine.
You know I had four really good months last year on just Seroquel and Klonopin and felt better than I do know with my mix led by Emsam. Am I glad I am trying Emsam? Hell yes. You never know until you try. If you are thinking about it, I recommend it. No real side effects (at least for me) and I do think it's the med-type of the future, MAOIs going through the blood stream to cut down on dietary restrictions. To me, far more effective than any SSRIs.
If anyone has any questions, please ask. Thank you everyone for your support on this board. Michael

That's a good question. There are two answers:
1. When I was on just Seroquel and Klonopin, I had four good months but then it did not sustain. Maybe Emsam will sustain me for more months, even years, if taken in combo with Seroquel and Klonopin or even alone. You just dont know if you dont try.
2. According to my pdoc, Emsam still may have yet to reach the top theraputic level in my body. So I am going to give it six weeks, maybe even eight. It is bearable and I have no side effects. Maybe taking it longer will make me cease to take any Klonopin and Seroquel. We'll see.
I hope you give it a try. If we are so much alike as I think we are, the low 6mg patch would be a perfect trial.

I agree with you we are so alike. But my pdoc is saying it's too energizing for me even with the valium xanax and lunesta. So you're having no insomnia, rashes, anxiety. And able to function like a normal human being? She had origianlly said maybe a quarter or sixth of a patch. Maybe the patient she had that had a rash that was raised and nothing work get rid of it scared her away from it. I know the patient had to stop. I'm so happy for you. Still may try it. Tell me about a typical day now as compared to before? Love Phillipa

All I can do or say is go back to the basics: Every med affects everyone differently. It would be impossible for anyone to know how much more energizing Emsam will make you feel unless you try it. I really think you would know something about two weeks, if not sooner.
Yes, no insomnia (probably helps Im taking Seroquel and Klonopin) and no rashes (just move it a different place every day over six days).
Godspeed.
