I have read several places that Nardil causes a B6 deficiency, which was confirmed by my pdoc. He said it wasnt that big of a deal, but another friend who is taking Nardil (and never comes to this site) says that the lack of B6 caused him numbness, which stopped increasing once he started B6 vitamins. Heres what I take:
1. B6
2. B multicomplex
3. Omega 3 fatty acid (has nothing to do with Nardil)Michael

Isn't B6 good as a mild diuretic too? What's it do for Nardil? Just curious. Love Phillipa

I can never remember which B does what, and since I need folate (child-bearing age) and B-6, and who knows what else, I just get it all in one.
Good thing to remember, though. I've been taking it so long, I forgot about that one.
Also, I get a liver-function test once a year.

Hey that's what I take. Much of it done on faith. Incidentally 2 walnuts a day will sort out cholesterol problems so I'm told (if cholesterol is the problem they make it out to be)

It's believed that Nardil competes for the pyridoxine transporter. Pyridoxine is required for the synthesis of all the major neurotransmitters, as it is an essential cofactor for the aromatic decarboxylase enzyme that is in each pathway. Thus, Nardil can actually create a deficiency of the very neurotransmitters it is taken to enhance. Anyone experiencing difficulty in tolerating Nardil should trial B6 supps (50 mg/day) before abandoning this therapy. Borderline B6 status, or genetic vulnerability in pyridoxal-dependent pathways, increase adverse effects.
