Hi all - it's been while since I've posted. Luvox really saved me a while back and I am considering restarting.
No OCD here - GAD, depression, and an utter lack of motivation with obsessive worrying. Luvox was the most tolerable of all the SSRIs for me with somnolence and insomnia being my only side effects.
The mild appetite suppression of Luvox would be greatly helpful, too, as I've gained a lot of weight over the last couple of years. I've tried Wellbutrin for it's activation and appetite supression but cannot tolerate the accompanying headaches. If anyone has a remedy for bupropion induced headaches, please let me know.
Back to Luvox - being tired most of the day and then not being able to sleep half the night does concern me. But so does being depressed, totally unmotivated, anxious, and fat.
Any and all opinions are appreciated.

Wow the only other person that I've encountered here on luvox. I've been on low doses for years. I also take benzos for sleep. Somehow I am going up this time. I'm so happy to hear that someone else has good results with it. How high is your dose? Twice years ago I was up to 250 and felt great relaxed and just a good feeling. I also did take xanax and a sleeper at the time. Please write more and my babblemail is always on. Welcome to babble. Love Phillipa

Wow, nobody else on here is using Luvox??? When I used to post a while back there were quite a few with OCD using it.
I'm not currently using it but am giving a restart great consideration. I, too, have to take benzos to sleep and that will be my saving grace for the insomnia that comes with Luvox.
My highest dose a few years ago was 300 mgs. It did help a lot. Knowing my pdoc, he will start me at 100mg and we will go from there.
The side effects do bother me though. I get what I used to call my "Late Afternoon Luvox Lethargy." I mean I am completely useless in the late afternoon.
I'd so much rather be able to tolerate Wellbutrin but I cannot bear the headaches.
How is your appetite on a low dose of Luvox? Do you find yourself motivated and getting a lot of things done? When I was on Luvox my appetite was slightly diminished and when I wasn't suffering from the somnolence I was gangbusters when it came to motivation and getting things accomplished.
I'm going to start another thread regarding Wellbutrin headaches, just to see if anyone has found a remedy. I need to prepare for my pdoc appointment next week.~M~

You know it's been so long since I was on the high dose. First time on high dose great realaxation only reason taken off was when celexa came out the pdoc wanted l0 people to test it on. I said no I'm happy as I am. Saw him next time completely relaxed he verbally pounced on me said you're catatonic and took it away the celexa failed. I wasn't catatonic. Second time different pdoc my energy was extremely high and then I think it may have pooped out didn't know about that then. So now will try to go up away and see what happens. Anxiety was so bad the new pdoc I had took me off the 25-50mg I was functioning on not that well but doing more and left me on just benzos and upped them. Two ER visits and lots of money. I said no way I am not an idiot. So called the old pdoc and she said your brain has been through so much with the med changes go back on the luvox slowly we can always try another if it doesn't work. Wellbutrin made me manic. How can you go from sedating to the opposite or did they work together for more normalicy? Love Phillipa

I just saw this thread and wanted to join in.
I am taking 300 mgs of Luvox for my OCD. This after Prozac pooped out after 17 yrs. of being nearly symptom free.So far so good. Just went up to 300 mgs from 250 mgs three days ago. I was concerned because I've had plenty of side effect anxiety since starting on Luvox in January. Well, the agitation actually quieted down on the increased dose. So I'm very happy.
I am in CBT for the last three weeks. The combination is really been helpful.

Oh thank-you so much for joining in and helping. So maybe that was why I was so relaxed on the 250 or 300mg dose. I'm only on 50mg now will raise to 75 tonight cause this posting. You give me hope and courage. Thanks again. Love Phillipa
