Help! How to Combat Provigil tolerance ?

Posted by Mishal on October 4, 2007, at 2:04:06

Hi

I am on 400mg of Provigil which is doing nothing for the past couple of days. Interestingly, I am sleepy in the morning when I am supposed to be wide awake. (I take full dose in the morning). Do any of you know experienced this? Do you know how to overcome this particular tolerance?

Or is it because Provigil works some days and doesn't do its job some days?

I have had good luck by taking a holiday from it.
After a few days or a week off at most it kicks back in like gangbusters. At least it did for me.

I agree with zana - I think your gonna need a washout period from it, a week at least. Then it might get back to it's original effectiveness.

I once used to take it every day (together with Nardil) & got up to 600mg+/day & even resorted to snorting the damn stuff (my addictive personality kicking in - PLEASE DONT TRY THIS!!!!!!). The high doses just made me more obsessive & irritable, similar to amphetamine in a way.

Seems that for some people taking modafinil daily just builds tolerance. I guess it also depends on what other meds your taking, as well as your reason for taking it. Maybe using it 'as needed' might be better, like when you have particularly demanding days.

provigil is some quick tolerance developing stuff, just adding to my argument that it simply isn't an every day med. take only as needed.
