I e-mail with a lot of folks who also have anxiety never have been hypomanic nor manic and feel that there has to be two poles to be called bipolar and their anxiety has been addressed with benzos and then an add on of an antidepressant so why this new category of bipolar spectrum? Is it to get people on more meds or what as it doesn't makes sense to me. Anyone benefited from it and please enclose your previous meds and current ones and how your condition changed. Thanks I think a lot of folks are really confused by this as well as me. Thanks Phillipa

Here is some info about anxiety and bipolar. You have to do your own research and come to your own conclusion. Every situation is different. Anxiety

Polarbear you are currently working in psych and I've been away for awhile. I saw the Oprah second show just now saw Patty Duke my age and the doctor who wrote quiet mind and neither gained any weight. I have the thyroid autoimmune that is not stable now. So what meds do you think would fit me and I know your're not a doctor but some things to think about. As I do the picking, muscles twitch, mind not still, me not still but can sit in a coma. Can you be highly functional for years on a benzo and then pufff your thyroid goes and your illness changes too. As the SSRI's don't work for me too much aggitation even with a benzo? I've wasted 9 years of my life with what is probably a wrong diagnosis or one that is not being treated properly. My psych testing came back major depression. Phillipa

Phillipa, did you read the one about anxiety and bipolar disease? It sounded a bit like your symptoms, nail biting or picking was one of the symptoms they mentioned. So this is called bipolar spectrum? It sounds like many of us with depression could have that too. I hope not but I guess it's not the diagnosis, it's whatever treatment that works for the symptoms that count.

Stargazer yes and it does sound like me and I've googled trileptal can't afford it lamictal can't take and lithium cant take cause of thyroid disease so what now? Guess I better not take the lyrica. And now I don't know what to do as the psych testing that took four weeks said major depression?????Phillipa
