I;ve been on Prozac 40mg for a while now, its been working like the drug was designed to work, wipe out depression.
The only thing, i have ADHD for a fact, now prozac does increase my activity but not focus. I read about Prozac being used for ADHD in some articles and mainly its only in Grade school its used for kids who have emotional problems (which i think prozac on a child would make it worse) why not wellbutrin or something?
Wellbutrin is not for me.....nope. I have been on the highest dose there is, 450mg XR. I had panic attacks and alot of anxiety.
Well my doctor does not think a stimulant is good for me, because he has diagnosed me with manic-depressive disorder. Even i object, because it did help when i was on it before i was dianosed 4 years ago.
Would Lithium and Prozac and an ADHD medication work, to help stablize me? plus i do take antianixety medication too, but that doesnt help with mood swings.
Anyone who awnsers this is awesome!

> Would Lithium and Prozac and an ADHD medication work, to help stablize me?I'd say yes to lithium, since it's the gold standard of mood stabilizers, and no to pretty much any ADHD medication, because they're liable to increase affective dysregulation.
There are a wide variety of mood stabilizing medications out there, though, and it's just as likely that you could take one of the others successfully. You've written about your pdoc in the past in such a way that I wonder if he's a bit conservative in his choices? Still, lithium is a good choice, since it's often the most reliably effective medication available. Be sure to limit your salt intake if you take it.
I am going to ask you a direct question now, and I hope you will answer it. (I don't expect, only hope.) Is there a reason you continue to see this doctor, rather than getting a second opinion somewhere? It seems to me that your behavior on these boards might indicate that your disorder is not well controlled, and perhaps a new set of eyes could help with that? Just an idea.

well pretty much this doctor has been with me so long through alot of stuff..... if you know what im talking about.
I started seeing him in 2002. He's older, i would say but has an exellent view point, and i sometimes dont like it, but he has been with me many times.
I just need to tell him i think Lithium is really the best because, i dont know how describe the "waves" that i go through in the day.
Sometimes in the, i feel very mentally slow, and not paying attention, and that its self, is when i lose my keys, my phone, my own wallet! by the way i lost my keys for good one time. Because i was not paying attention. I mean i lose track of things so much, i mean im in the "top" 10 list of ADHD.
But as far a mood goes, i've been not depressed, at all, but irrtible. Prozac takes out that feeling of melcoloy. I mean it, im stable with life with it.
But as far as that, i'll be on lithium soon.
But i want to take the lowest dose possible, if he gives 300mg im spitting in half. Im scared!
But thanks for your advice, i have many people who help me with ADHD. The problem alot of times it is "mental motivation" but i make myself motivated but it just stresses me out so much because of 12 hour classes.

If you're bipolar you should consider lamictal, it can be combined with both lithium or SSRI.
