I need some input. Two weeks ago my doc moved me up on Nardil from 30mg to 60mg per day. I am feeling agitated/anxious/dizzy from the change but I expect these side effects to taper away. Any guess on how long these side effects will last and any guess on when the increased dosage will help my depression? We were at 45mg for a few weeks but backed down as it seem to agitating at first. Any ideas/thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks.John
Thanks
John

I am on day 7, nardil. Please, if you don't mind, did you find nardil beneficial? How long have you been on it? When did you notice it working? Thank you so much -

Hi,
Your doctor had you try 45 mg and then backed it down because of increased agitation? I don't understand, then, why the doc would have you go from 30 to 60 mg.When I went from 60 mg to 75 mg, I developed akithisia right away. I felt like I was going to jump out of my skin, and I couldn't sleep at all. After about five days of this, I called my doc, and she prescribed Gabitril to try. That did nothing, so eventually I had to go back down to 60mg. since then, whenever I've made a dose change, I do it in half tablet increments, i.e. from 30 to 37.5 to 45 to 52.5 to 60 to 67.5, etc. That seems to work better for me, though it's kind of annoying to have to cut the tablets. So in my case, the side effects I had at 75 mg were intolerable and did not go away.
Perhaps try going up slower? You might find a dose that includes a half tablet that works best for you.

Some seem to be able ramp up quickly on Nardil..I went really slowly..I felt benefits at 45 after about 4 weeks and am now at 60..I don't know when or if I'll do another increase as I'm feeling pretty darn good right now..

Hi,
IMHO the first time you titrate up on Nardil, you have to take it pretty slow. I stopped taking the drug for other med trials, and during subsequent titrations I was able to titrate upwards at a faster rate. The jump from 30mg to 60mg is a big step and probably the reason for your increased side effects.

>John,
Jedi has given you some good advice. Be conservative and cautious. One thing at a time and go very slow when you taper off benzo.
Good Luck:)

I think its a big jump, and that dizzy feeling sleepiness never went away from me even after 7 weeks side effects were just as strong. I have avoided much of them by taking the whole dose at night and sleeping through the side effects. I have heard from other users 4 months of side effects. However, it is a good medication, and has a solid AD effect on me at 60mg. Like justherself I don't know when I'll titrate up - I may wait 8 weeks and boost up to 75mg.
This is the end of the thread.
