Strattera 40mg

Posted by twinch42085 on March 31, 2008, at 13:55:33

Hi all. I started 40mg of strattera today. I am keeping everyone posted on how it reacts on me. Currently I am feeling buzzed, but there is no efficiency in my opinion at 40mg then there was at 25mg. Still having the same ADD symptoms that I described to my pdoc.

Thanks : )

I tried strattera, but didn't like it that much. It made me feel kind of weird. Now I take adderall for ADD type issues and that is a much better drug, for me at least.

Certainly Adderall is a better drug than Stattera, for almost any purpose, but does it actually work well enough in the long run?

I've read that some positive effects of stimulants are not subjects to tolerance. One of these effects, in my experience, is enhanced wakefulness, and although that's nice, it's not enough.

There is some evidence that memantine taken with stimulants will prevent tolerance.

Memantine is worth a try even without stimulants, because it can have stimulant effects of its own, and may also be effective against depression and negative symtpoms like anhedonia.

In certain cases, yes, and in very rare cases, caffeine is effective where methylphenidate and amphetamine fail. Combinations of caffeine and one of the other stimulants can also be superior to either of them alone. However, methylphenidate and amphetamine are generally more effective than caffeine, which is often only insignificantly better than placebo.
