I thought the CP 450 test did the same thing and it is available already. I know it tells you what meds are likely to work for you and which ones aren't. I believe it always measures whether you are a rapid metabolizer, normal or slow.
What is the difference in this and the new test?

This new test assays the availability of receptors within the neuronal membrane. What it is saying is that a certain percentage of receptors are engulfed in a lipid sludge and are not available to bind neurotransmitter. They call these droplets of sludge "rafts". In particular, G-Proteins are not there to transduce the signal into a second messenger cascade. The overall state of the neuron is to be hypo-excitable.
I think the test you are referring to indicates the degree of side-effects that a drug will produce. P450 (CYP450) genotyping test.
