There is a case report at pubmed of someone who did not respond to a conventional antidepressant and did not respond to tianeptine but they did respond to the combination. No mention of what the other antidepressant was though.

The terms serotonin reuptake inhibitor and serotonin reuptake enhancer are very broad terms. These drugs do a lot more than just serotonin stuff.

There are cases of tianeptine abuse, where people actually got a good feeling from high doses. Just hypothesis, but based on this and based on what other people say about it, tianeptine probably has some indirect effect of enhancing other systems such as dopamine.

I think that must be right.

It is actually right. Tianeptine induce a downregulation of D2/D3 receptors mainly because it enhance them. Look for "Tianeptine D2" on pubmed for more details.

Btw, Tianeptine seems to hit Adenosine(A1) just like caffeine. :)

So what does that mean if one would be interested in trying tianeptine plus mirapex? Since mirapex is a d2/d3 agonist. Recipe for disaster, or synergistic?

Except for practioner with experiences with Tianeptine and some few very credible scientist who studied with Tianeptine, I suggest you dont listen to anyone pretending having any clue about that. .. just my 2 cents.
