Took my first dose of 50 mgs of picamilon after breakfast this morning and feel awful. Instead of feeling calm after about an hour, I felt more agitated. Shakiey. Have been severly nauseuous all day. Head buzzing. What can that mean? Was to scared to take second dose. Maybe not a gaba problem?
Any opinions?
Courtney

Sorry you are not feeling well. I just wanted to let you know that I have bad reactions to supplements all the time, and I also have GAD like you.
Had racing thoughts after starting Melatonin; felt odd and hypomania? from Brain Fuel (a mix of ginseng and lots of other stuff) and brain felt fuzzy, and COQ10 made my spleen hurt and tender. These were all symptoms that I had never had before, but came about right after taking those supplmements.
I stay away from supplements now. If you have health insurance, it's best to find a nutritional psychologist or a nutritionist/dietician.
If I were you-definitely quit taking them. sux I know. Maybe when your body is worn out from anxiety, it can't tolerate some things. Everything is already out of whack w/severe anxiety, I wouldn't be surprised that ingesting other things would be throw it off balance even moreso.

Jeez, it's so weird. I take a ton of pharaceuticals but would be scared to death of over the counter remedies. Still, I think diet and nutrition play a big part in our well-being. Guess I'm just stuck in authoritarian thinking. If an MD prescribes it, it must be good. Even tho I know from my own experience it can be way wrong. Wish I felt like I didn't need any of it. All the meds are such a drag but I don't think I could do without them. Still I psyched to be getting off seroquel. God, I hope it goes OK>
Too bad about the Picamilon. Hope you're feeling better.Zana

try taking a lower dose. higher doses are stimulating (probably because of increase blood flow in brain)

IIRC, there was the smaller dose of picamilon which didn't do much at all, and the larger dose which made me feel awful and agitated.
This is the end of the thread.
