since ritalin LA was a bust, a friend has kindly supplied me with about a week's worth of dexedrine (5mg, IR).
given that the drug seems to induce an initial high (as far as i'm aware?), i was just wondering how long/what sort of dose i should aim for to see whether it was going to be beneficial/harmful ..? i.e. i don't want to mistake the high as therapeutic ...

I would start with a ten mg dose and see how you feel. I think you'll find Ritalin causes more of a 'high' than Dexedrine.

That was my experience as well. Unfortunately, the therapeutic effect of Dexedrine lasted for only three days.

I don't know if you have tried Adderall XR, but if you haven't you should. It's a very smooth drug and there is no crashing at the end of the day.

I traded my ir's for spansules. Less crash. IR's were too hard on me. However, after 9.5 months of Dex, I am wondering if it's too strong for me in general--I always feel a bit of pressure while on it (not in the manic sense). I wonder about vyvanase or...miraprex...or?
What condition are you addressing with this? (Sorry to have forgotten.)

anyway, looking back now, it explains a lot.
i never went through with the dexedrine trial - i didn't want to do it on my own, just in case something went wrong. so i'll probably just wait until my doc's run me through every Ritalin dose, before moving onto Dex.
fb - this may sound a little vague, but do you feel smarter on dex? my short term memory and processing abilities feel a little shot (from med trials, depression, etc.), so i would love to be able to think clearly again. what i don't really want, though, is 'superfocus', just because that level of stimulation doesn't seem to match my lifestyle [unemployment :)].

HI 3gunit,
I would say that dex makes me a little sharper and more gregarious (yes, at times). Smarter, well, I'm not saying the world lost a genius, but I sense that those days are fairly behind me now. But I can read books again. :-)
