NARDIL...How Can I be Social If I Feel This Tired?

Posted by angels78 on May 12, 2010, at 20:44:09

I just recently bumped the dose up to 75 mg of Nardil, I was on 60 mg for over a month and needed to get more therupatic effect from the drug for social phobia, but I have realized the last couple of days I have been extremely tired during the day, how can I be this tired and still be social? Does this side effect ever pass?

If you've only been on Nardil for over a month, wait a bit. It takes time, but the side effects might pass, as they did for me. I am at 60mg. When I went up to 75mg, the afternoon sleepiness was way too pronounced and I could barely work, so I went back down to 60mg. However, 75mg might be the right dose for you for your social anxiety, if that's what you have. I had/have atypical depression. There are drugs that your doctor can add temporarily to combat the sleepiness such as Provigil, but treating side effects of drugs with other drugs is not something I personally like to do. Provigil, also, is quite expensive.

Hi angels78,
I think I said it but at 60mg, Nardil has a lot less side effects than at 90mg. That's me. Also the afternoon tiredness, even at higher doses, was one of the side effects that decrease greatly with time. If you are like most others, you will always need a sleep aid at high dose Nardil.
Good Luck,
Jedi

Hi,
I'm on 90mg and I find that one week I will feel just tired & weary and it's OK and the next week I will feel almost incapacitated exhaustion. I have OCD though which often interferes with me going to bed at a time that would allow me sufficient sleep so that's almost certainly another factor.
I'm trying provigil 200mg for the worst days (like when I actually fall asleep at my desk at work) and have had a very small response. It stops me from dropping off but I feel no more alert or awake or anything like that. Perhaps 90mg Nardil's just too much for 200mg Provigil to combat or something.
Pete

How long did you wait until you realized 75mg was too much for your afternoon tiredness?
