What is the best generic version of Zoloft?

Posted by michelle41a on October 16, 2010, at 16:13:29

Hello!
I was wondering if anyone has had better success on a certain type of generic zoloft? Right now, I am on Camber Pharmacy generic Zoloft (sold at Kroger pharmacy)
I don't know if it is the side effects of the generic zoloft is making me sick ( Lower abdominal cramping, Loss of appetite, loose bm's (Sorry TMI) and weight loss due to lack of appetite) Or if Zoloft is too stimulating for me. I was on prozac before and it was even more stimulating than Zoloft :/
I have been on 12.5 mg almost 6 weeks and I have seen minimal improvement of my anxiety.. I do realize that I am at a "below therapeutic" dose, but when I tried to bump up to 18.75 mg, I became more nauseous.. I was at 18.75 for approx 2 weeks. I tried to taper back down to 12.5 but my anxiety became worse.
I am at the point where I either find a better generic zoloft, pay extra for the real zoloft, or switch to a different SSRI. I am also on Klonopin .5 divided into .25 doses morning/night.
If anyone has any suggestions or info, I would appreciate your input!
Thanks so much!
Michelle

Michelle am surprised no one has answered your thread. I at least have to let you know I've read it. I honestly don't know what to suggest to you. Any med in the past work well for you? If you stay at the low dose is it okay? Personally I just don't do well on anything but low doses of ad's which I'm sure I've mentioned before . Best of luck and hoping for answers for you. Phillipa

Hi, I'm not sure if I can help you with generic Zoloft because in Australia we have different generic brands. The price difference here between generic and the Zoloft is about a $1.50. Generic Zoloft should be exactly the same the real deal Zoloft as they have to go through stringent guidelines to make sure it is. Having said that some people are sensitive and know the difference. I prefer non generic Zoloft and only do is because it is easier to split. Zoloft is one of the ones that has lots of zing in it.
You might find experimenting with other SSRI's helpful. You need to find one that suits you and there are plenty out there. Zoloft suits me, but only after finding Paroxitine made me awake most of the night and Lexapro made me vomit.
You may find it helpful to try something else if this one isn't working out for you, there are plenty out there. It is not worth suffering - you given it a good try. All the best Sam

Thanks Phillipa for your post :D I am at a loss myself with the whole SSRI thing.. I am afraid to just take klonopin because I worry that after being on ssri's for so long, my body needs it. The low dose I am on now is starting to become overstimulating so I am not sure if I should bump up the klonopin to .75 a day instead of the .50
I worry about taking too much klonopin for the long term :(

Hi Sam! Thanks for the info! I am going to stick out the zoloft another week at 15.625.. I am not sure what I will do after this.. I am going to stay on the klonopin for now since it does seem to keep the anxiety down..

Did your doctor get your insurance company to cover brand Zoloft?

How have you been doing?
