Hi,
My doctor has me tapering up to 900mg of wellbutrin. I spent the last 11 months using phenylethylamine, ending up becoming dependent on it, and going through hell trying to taper off of it. The wellbutrin is "supposed to" replace the effect but obviously it's not going to do anything like what PEA did.
I'm at 750 right now. My doctor seems to think high dose is OK and the seizure risk is mitigated since i'm on also a high dose of lamictal 400mg.
Has anyone else ever been on this high (or higher) of Wellbutrin? How high have you heard anyone go?
Same question about Lamictal -- I'm on 400mg. I think it's causing some cognitive issues, but I could be hypochondriacing. If anything it may be disrupting memory.
ALSO: what other side effx can occur with high dose lamictal? Can it in any way antagonize dopamine? I am in dire need of stimulation. I am absolutely dopamine hypofunctional after the year long PEA experience and have lost essentially all motivation to do even the smallest things. I am stuck, depressed, and literally feel like i'm unable to move forward...or even check my email.

I've never heard of people going as high as 900mg wellbutrin, but imagin its realy stimulating. I went as high as 400mg. Lamictal of 400mg is not that high. Its high. I didn't notice it affecting the wellbutrin. Lamictal never worked out for me. It made me stupid. I was on 200mg. I never took the other drugs you are talking about. There is a seziure risk with wellbutrin, which gets higher the higher you go.
Why did they take you off of PEA?

I was just taking way too much PEA, i had become dependent on it, had to dose it 5-6 times a day etc. and the side effects became troublesome...overfocusing, couldnt' get off the computer, etc.
But my life without PEA is hell right now. PEA gave me 10 months of relative wellness besides the side effects, which eventually made a few wrecks in my life. I just got out of 2 months residential treatment for depression and chemical dependency for PEA but didnt end up getting off of it completly while i was there (stupid me) and am still strugglign tapering off of it.
It's hell hell hell. It's basically raising my hand and saying "hey severe depression come back" voluntarily when i'm reducing the PEA.

Why not add a stimulent like provigil to your mix? Provigil and wellbutrin was a really good combo for me for a while, though it eventually pooped out on me...this time around, I'm trying nefazodone combined with wellbutrin and I'm hoping that having a better serotonin balance along with the wellbutrin keeps the combo from pooping out.
