Cold hands and feet?

Posted by gritslad on January 19, 2011, at 18:19:55

My new doc has been trying all kinds of new drugs on me (this is her last chance), and I've had side effects that are to be expected, but cold hands and feet all the time are not ones with which I am familiar. THIS WEEK, I'm on prozac, lamictal, Vyvanse as needed (only taken two days) and seroquel taken as needed.
Do any of these drugs cause this symptom.

Not that I'm aware of. There is an autoimmune condition known as Renauds sp? Disease that causes hands and feet to be very cold. Or did this happen when you went on the meds? What meds were you on in the past?Phillipa

No. None of the horrible side effects I had with my short stint on Luvox and reduced Prozac.

I don't know. Is there an online side-effect checker? If not, and no one else pipes up, go to the medications' websites and read all that tiny print.

Strattera brought on the same symptoms for me.

Good luck.

I would suspect vyvanse. Drugs that work on norepinephrine can constrict peripheral blood vessels. You may also notice your sinuses are clearer.

im afraid creepy u may be wrong.

norepinephrine may constrict blood vessels in the nose, but most likely not the ones in the hands or peripherlaly.

im pretty sure it's a common side effect of an SSRI, especially after just being on it a few days. I almost felt alternating days of cold hands and some days i didn't feel it at all.

It can be autoimmune, but again. with SSRI's they can thin your blood, or make you bleed. so just like an aspirin can bring on Reynaud's phenomenon so does an SSRI, specially ones that have more anti-platelet activity than others.
