Effexor + hearing loss

Posted by divadeb67 on April 21, 2011, at 10:28:26

I've read a lot about how effexor can trigger hearing loss in users but is there anything about causing a hearing loss in babies if taken during pregnancy? I was taking 175mg while pregnant and my daughter was born with a hearing loss..could it be connected?

Hi,

As one who feels my hearing loss was caused by Remeron, my answer is, "I wouldn't be surprised" even though I admittedly have seen no research to support my belief.

I mean, if babies are having other problems due to the mom taking antidepressants during pregnancy, why wouldn't that be a possibility?

Did you have any other risk factors that might have caused this just to make sure that all bases are being covered?

Does your daughter have some hearing or is it a complete loss?

My heart goes out to you and your daughter.
