I have a problem. I've been getting fatter and fatter. Whenever I start dieting my mood goes down. It's very noticeable. I just ate less than usual today and I already feel down.
I want to lose weight and still be happy. If there like a med or supplement or something that can counteract the depression that comes from dieting?

If there was one that worked very well, everyone would be on it. But there are some prescription stimulants that are approved for weight loss, such as Bontril, Didrex, and phentermine. Xenical is now OTC, at least in the US, but it doesn't work by elevating mood. Meridia was recently removed from the market, but it was most likely junk anyway.

I just become a little sad. I usually feel happy or just a little bit above zero on a mood scale.
I'm wondering if maybe this is a blood sugar issue or something.

I used to feel better when lost weight. Hope you are not restricting calories too much as low blood sugar could be the cause. Phillipa

I get that too, and increased anxiety. Stimulants used to be commonly prescribed in part to prevent that dip in mood.
Since Dexedrine probably isn't an option, all I can think of is slowly reducing your calorie intake so your body has time to adjust, instead of suddenly cutting down and sending your body into "where the hell is my food?" mode. I would think caffeine might help a bit, so maybe coffee with some sugar free creamer?
Good luck!

ok, so do you notice it at certain times in the day? when you are hungry? bored? is it associated with low or high energy? is it positive/dysphoric, or an absence of interest?

You may need to go for more of a paleolithic type diet and cut out all grains and added sugar. Don't diet, just eat right and exercise.
