i've been on tegretol for about 6 months now. i'm having the worst time with depression and major anxiety. my pdoc put me on buspar but it doesn't seem to help. the only thing in a long list of things i haven't tried is lithium. my diagnosis is bipolar 1 but major depression is the worst. any thoughts about lithium? i'm nervous about trying something new.

been on 600 mg and 100 mg of lamictal for 3 years ---works ok what is the dose you take of tegretol

I'm also taking 600mg of tegretol. What has tegretol been like for u? Are you bp? I need to find an antidepressant to take with the tegretol but so far no luck. I'm using the buspar for anxiety and my dr thinks it may help with depression. It's been a week on the buspar and it so far makes me more depressed, I don't know if the increased depression will go away with time.

i hace ocd with bipolar 2 took lexapro lithium lamictal-ativan for quite a few years---kidney dr. recommended off the lithium 3 years ago...didn't want to try depakote and am diabetic so not advised on using any of the atypicals so tried tergretol --it works pretty well..can't seem to go above 6oo though don't feel right on 800...so currently on the tegretol/lamictal/klonopin//as far as ssri's i've used luvov-lexapro-cymbalta all with some success---

for anxiety i take klonopin ---usually 1.25 at night for sleep t and to unwind...and .5 or .25 in the day...as far as ssri's was on celexa 20 mg for 7 weeks horribel sweating doc thinks it could be from celexa so we quit the celexa cold turkey for 2 weeks to resume another right after that -off it for a week a little dizzy but feel fine said i could take a little more klonopin if i get agitated from withdrawel ....if i'm going back on a ant-dep may be cymbalta ..not sure yet...celexa shoild be all out of my system probably monday...i;ll keep you posted

Crazyjoe, did lithium help at all with depression? I'm kind of concerned if I go to lithium, with withdrawal symptoms from the tegretol. Did you experience withdrawal symptoms when going off of lithium? I have such awful anxiety on the tegretol and I don't know if it's the tegretol causing it?
