First of all, may I ask a question about searching in this forum?
If so, I'd like to know how to search on people's names in the >title< of the messages, >not< necessarily in the body of the text.
Is this possible?
Thank you for any help any of you can provide...

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to search for posts *by* a particular person. That's on my to-do list...

> BobDear Dr. Bob,
Thank you for answering my query so quickly. Yes, I'm afraid I wasn't expressing my question clearly enough (even though I'm a librarian)... What I meant was exactly that - posts *by* a particular person. This is why I asked, because it isn't on the instructions on the search page. How far down is it on the to-do list? (if you don't mind my asking...) Am I right in thinking you have to write some code (Perl scripts, or whatever) to do this? Do you write your own, or does someone do it for you?
Best regards,
Wendy B.

It's somewhat far down. I think I'd have to write some Perl myself. The search function is a package that someone else wrote, and I think this is a suggestion he's received before, but I think it's even further down on his list. :-(

Please don't consider my wish for better searching capability some kind of criticism, it's not. Just a former librarian's nit-picking desire to delve deeper into the topic...
Hope you keep it at least somewhere there on the back burner... Keeping this site going would probably be a full-time job for anyone else! Cheers and many thanks for everything you do.

Right, or to see what they've said before about a certain topic...

Not to worry, if I didn't think it would be a good idea, too, it wouldn't be on my to-do list at all. :-)
