You can go to the registration page and click on the link near the bottom of the page to reset your password.

(Also, if you are using Windows, there are ways to retrieve "hidden" text...)

HTH,
Chris

ring0 my friend.

Chris you seem to know a lot about computers.
if I upgrade my pc what processor brand/speed do I
need and how much memory? For highest performance
games, web browsing (psycho-babble). I want good value for my
money.

Thanks for your help.
I'm too lazy to investigate myself.
John

Hah! You're supposed to be the hardware wiz! Computer hardware has never been my bag (most of my computers are 486/386's), but I would suggest that you build a new one... It's not that difficult, plus you can put together a decent system for less than half what you would pay for a new one (and you could just reuse your current drives, monitor, etc.).

As for upgrading... Make sure you get the correct processor & memory for your motherboard type... I'm not sure how easy it is to upgrade processors these days, but if you do it yourself, you need to be careful putting it in (don't worry about the brand as long as it's somewhat well-known; it's best to get one a little bit slower than the fastest speed -- the only noticeable difference would probably be the pricetag). Memory is dirt cheap now, so just put in as much as it can hold. You also want to think about upgrading things like the hard drive(s), video RAM, cache, etc. -- there's more to a fast system than serotonin, err.. processor speed! Sorry if this is too basic, but I'm not very up-to-date on hardware.

No problem!

I can definitely empathise.

Shame! Lazy John. ;-)
Whatever you decide, get a really good video card. Without a good one, your games will play poorly. Want me to find the specs for what you need? Maybe I could get into the computer consulting??

I don't get it, how could you get on the board if you lost your password? I'd like to erase my cookies but am scared of losing my password again and spending 5 hours trying to get back on. This has happened in the past, I have cognitive deficits that make erasing cookies an all-night proposition, and I lost my password in the process. Password is a number, right?
And erasing cookies speeds things up, right? Should I chance it again I wonder?
thanx for any illumination,

trouble

trouble,

My netscape/windows stores the password, but it pops up "******"
to hide the display when I request it. I don't know the technology (sorry,
I do chips, not networking). When I come home from work I'm tired of
the technical stuff, so I don't want to mess with my pc setup. Rather watch
the history channel or something (class I slept through in high school).

Pass-WORD.

regards,
John

Sure. Actually I wouldn't mind consulting with you all
via email just to say hello and things.
But I would prefer not to post my email
address. Is there a way to do this securely?
(we should move this, sorry)
