Dr. Bob, I don't get insulted easily so I'm not worrying about this response but do you have any idea what her comment was even about? I read it, shrugged & said "oh well".

Dr. Bob replaced the med site with "xxx" -- the post now reads something like "has anyone bought anything from the site xxx." I thought it was pretty funny. ;)

I think the reason I was so surprised & didn't get the joke is because this is the first time anyone even suggested I was a pervert (other than my sons, but it's all in a joke 'cause they say I'm so asexual). I'm glad to hear you didn't get it either, Mark. Maybe we're just real old, hey?
I recommended a new show to my sons - Scrubs, as I find it hilarious. They said they were surprised that I would watch it as it was full of sexual inuendos & they didn't think I was that naive. But I really miss most of it - the jokes can come so fast & I notice the visual ones the most, that the others just whiz past me unless they ask me if I didn't get it. Then I stop to think & realise that it can be taken more than one way.
I guess that's why when someone asked in PB Social whether innocence is lost forever, I didn't think so. I mean how many 52 year old women that have seen all sorts of things (including being around prostitutes, pimps) still be so naive? I'd rather go bug hunting on a nice day than watch a romance movie.

I didn't get it either!
But since we're on the subject, I'm new to computers and every day on my email I have around a dozen pornographic sales messages on my personal email. Some of them look like they could be messages from old friends, it's very deceptive and it's getting my activist ire stirred up. Is there something I'm not doing that could stop this? It took me months to learn I could stop the pop-ups from appearing and ruining my enjoyment online, and now that they're gone my mental health has improved, seriously, these porny emails are pushing my endurance to the limit. AOL has had a busy signal for the last 3 days so I thought I'd ask anyone here for advice before I make some formal complaints. I just keep thinking there's some secret I'm supposed to know to make it stop that everyone else is on on but me.thanks,
trouble

Trouble, if you sign up for newsletters, etc on a site that may interest you, it's good to check their privacy policy. Still, even if they say they don't share the e-mail addresses of those who sign up, I don't really believe them.
Places can also keep track of who visits by cookies. Then you may start receiving spam from others tracking your cookies. There's other ways your e-mail address can leak out. Once someone gets yours, they can sell it to others & soon you're flooded (as you know).
When you get this crap, sometimes it tells you to click on a link if you don't want to receive any more. DON'T! It's just further proof that your e-mail address is still active. They don't stop sending you spam.
I don't know what you use for your e-mail, but most systems allow you to set up a junk mail folder or a block users folder to enable you to send your spam there. Then, you can empty your trash folder every few days & otherwise have your approved e-mail come to your regular folder.
Here's a site about blocking spam. I hope you find something useful in here.

If your filtering software (in this case, AOL's) allows it, you can try moving all messages with a "CC" line to a different folder. This will seperate messages sent just to you from messages sent to multiple people.
Also, some spam is locally distributed (the "To" line will not contain your address). You can move all messages that are not addressed to you to another folder.I have no idea what kind of e-mail utilities AOL provides, but you should be able to set your own filtering rules like those above.
Let us know how it goes,
Christophre
