This isn't really an administrative question, but maybe you'll indulge me. I was wondering what it is that drew you to psychiatry, and if you'd recommend it to others (is it worth the effort)? I'm at a point where I probably need to go back to school again, presumably deeper into computer science, but I'm really considering shucking it all and going into psychiatry.

-----Heh. Yeah. I don't know why it interests me so much. Aside from my fascination with the plasticity of the brain, I'm also motivated by the poor quality of many existing doctors. I really feel like I could potentially do a much better job. It bothers me that the couple times I've been allowed to see a pdoc, it's this big deal. They're harried and textbook, and their dismissive diagnoses (or lack of) are infallible (within my HMO).
And programming just isn't that exciting. :)

---------Thanks for the encouragement. I'm going to the local university tomorrow to find out where I begin, but it'll probably be at least 8-10 years, assuming it's even feasible. My hat's off to Dr Bob for completing the seemingly endless regimen required.
