Tired of America bashing » Dr. Bob

"But I, many of you too have had family die to keep this country free"

Dr Bob that's true. That's from Phil's post and I think for you to PBC him for a possible insult to the derrieres of France is unconscionable. I have an uncle that I never knew. He went to France in World War II and he never came home. He knew why he was going and he went willingly. I thought about the liberation of France today when I was watching the liberation of Baghdad and I thought how very lucky those people were that the Coalition was liberating them. Look at Europe after the war. It isn't the European territories of the USA is it?

I think you issuing a PBC for this post is an insult to all the people who have sacrificed for this country. And to all of us who have people we love fighting for their country right now. What about us? Phils post brought me and probably others some comfort at a difficult time. What about us? There is just no comparison (or Parallel) with a mild vulgarity.

And if you want to be technical Phil never SAID anyone said anything. He said just don't tell me................. His post was not addressed to a particular individual.

And by the way Bob DON'T TELL ME EITHER that our troops are evil or mindless! (If you want to PBC me for that I'd be proud to accept.)

Dr Bob you have caused a great deal of upset and pain to people that just don't deserve it.

> > Ask the French, who would be German now, if it weren't for the U.S. dying by the 1000's to save their lazy asses.

> Did someone say our troops are evil and mindless and an American life isn't worth saving? Please be sensitive to the feelings of others and don't be sarcastic, post anything that could lead them to feel put down, or exaggerate or overgeneralize, thanks.

I meant no disrespect for the people who have sacrificed for this -- or any other -- country. Couldn't Phil have been comforting without putting down others?

I'm sorry about any upset and pain that I cause. This isn't always easy, and I know I'm not perfect, but I'm trying to do my best to be fair and to do what I think will be good for this community as a whole.

But I just posted the same phrase as he did (just don't say....) and you didn't PBC me. And he didn't say anybody SAID anything he was expressing an opinion.

So is your only objection the phrase saving their lazy asses? Are you aware that one definition of lazy is slow moving?

It just seems so trivial in comparison with the body of his post.

Who do you think he is putting down? The allies did save France. That's not a putdown it's history.

But thanks for taking the time to answer.

But to many of us it seems you ignore the fact than a large number of the community is hurt by what you do & say so. So which is more valid, your view of the community or the views of the community itself, given that they do inform you that your actions are hurting them ? On this board the 2 do not seem to be the same.

That was my main objection.

"The allies saved France" would've been fine.

I'm sorry if you feel I'm ignoring your view. I try to be open to other views, but we may not always agree. In fact, since different members of the community will sometimes have different views, I think some disagreement is bound to occur. I'm trying to do my best. Thanks for your patience,

Bob

I am talking about times when many people express
the same view, that your choices were hurting people. I was not just talking about my view, and I think that was very clear. For you to speak about just my view seems to me that you are avoiding the question.

Sorry, that wasn't my intent, but I'd reply essentially the same way:

I'm sorry if anyone feels I'm ignoring their view. I try to be open to other views, but we may not always agree. In fact, since different members of the community will sometimes have different views, I think some disagreement is bound to occur. I'm trying to do my best.

If there were choices that wouldn't hurt anyone, I would of course choose them, you know...

Bob
