You know, after all the years I've gotten support on these boards, that I respect what you've done here and feel a certain personal affection for the posters and moderator here. I don't know if I could have survived the last few years without the Babbles, and do know that I wouldn't have without something like Babble. Generally, when you've asked me to be civil, I've realized that you were right, and that I had crossed that line, and deeply regretted it.
This latest PBC bothers me, though. I agree that it was very bad judgement on my part to respond to that thread, and honestly can no longer remember why I did so in the first place. Whatever the reason, I did respond. My own emotional reaction is coloring my perspective right now, but it seems as if a lot of people were involved in that little teapot tempest, and I was the only one to receive a PBC -- one which I think takes some of my comments out of context.
I agree with what finelinebob said above, about a good umpire standing by his decision despite outcry from fans and players -- and think it's a great analogy, by the way -- and I will not make any self-defeating ultimatums about leaving this online community. I just wanted you -- personally -- to know that my feelings were hurt in this matter.
I'd also like to direct your attention again to the threads in question. It seems as if some of the posts there, while not directed at or to another poster directly, were certainly open to quite offensive interpretation by many of us on the boards. I trust that you'll do what you consider best in this as in other matters.
