Owenus Block...Aw come on!

Posted by TofuEmmy on June 13, 2004, at 9:56:56

I try Dr Bob, I really do, but this is just silly. This person was blocked for 2 weeks for using the word "jackass"???? That's not a curse word! That's the name of an animal, a donkey! Picture something like Eeyore. Would you block me for calling myself a wolverine?? Or calling KK poodle?

Puuulllleeeze reconsider.

Administrator Bob

Please check your Merriam Webster. When the jack prefaces the *ss it is not considered vulgar or offensive.

Ok, I can't resist. I knew I had seen this exchange somewhere so went surfing to get it:

September 2003

> In your case, I would pin the blame for your suffering solely on your doctor who was such a jack*ss

>> It's great to support others, but please don't use language that could offend people, thanks.

Next, under the title "Retraction":

>> ...sorry, I assumed it would be considered "often vulgar", and it turns out it isn't...
