It would be great if posters could have their own signature lines. I love to read people's favorite quotes!

How about a favorite quotes thread for now? And later they could go in the profiles?
Bob

A profile would be great someday. I will start a thread of favorite quotes for now.
Thanks for your response.

As a social worker who knocks on the doors of the elderly who are desperately trying to hang on to their independence, I always try to keep this quote in the back of my mind:
"If I knew as a certainty that a man was coming to my house with the conscious design of doing me good, I should run for my life..." -Henry David Thoreau

That's an interesting quote. Sometimes when someone has a "conscious design" of doing someone good, they are trying to prosteletize or control. Really doing someone good comes from a natural place. There's no agenda involved.
The quote makes me want to go back and read some more Thoreau and Emerson. They were two of my favorite authors in college. I identify with their attitudes. Thanks for posting that.
If you want to post any more, I've started a favorite quotes thread on PsychoSocialBabble.
