ok. I get how you can choose to redirect your message to a different board, but can one do this so that the redirected response has links to the rest of the thread history of posts on the original board?
Tried to redirect a newbie request to babble and f'd up in this respect. Was hoping that my response would appear on babble and that there would be links so peoples could follow the thread from the start without having to trek over to newbies.
Can you do this? How?
Was that an appropriate thing to do?
Is it okay to redirect newbie threads?
Or should I have asked if that was ok and waited for a response first?????Can someone (ie bob) clear out the hopeless jumble of threads I ended up making :-(

> Ta.Whenever you redirect a post by replying to it, but sent to a different board, there is a hotlink to the post you're replying to. So, it can be backtracked, but you won't get the nice list of all posts in the thread down at the bottom of the page....if that's what you were hoping to get.
It's a good idea to post two replies to a redirected thread. The first one is the redirected post to the new board. Click on it so you can get the URL at the bottom of the page. Then go back to the post you first replied to, and post again, but on the same board, explaining what you did, and posting the link to the new thread over on the other board. That way people can find their way both forward and backward.

I think it's nice to try to increase their exposure! OTOH, if people continued the thread on Newbies, I think I'd let that go...

I combined two on PB, was that it? No problem! :-)
FYI, there's now an administrative mechanism to repost already-posted posts (as opposed to redirecting replies) that deputies would have access to...

Oh, yes, I am fond of nice blue lists of all the posts down the bottom of the page... that was what I was hoping for rather :-(
