Dr. Bob; Have you considered adding a temporary or new board for Effexor? It seems Psycho-Babble is one long Thread of this med. Just wondering. Phillipa

That would be one way to do it... You do know there are other threads there, right?

But isn't one of the Effexor threads the longest running thread here? Been running since 2000 or something silly *lol*

Dr. Bob; I know there are other Threads, and I try to read just about them all, but if you check, a good l/3 of the top is all Effexor, and then it continuously pops up again and again. That is one of the reasons I am becoming afraid of all meds. I need to know how much truth should one put in info like this. Do AD's work for resistant anxiety and depression in your opinion only. There is a section on 'How do I decide which information to trust' if you follow the link to the Frequently Asked Questions:

If Dr B gave us personalised advice then we could sue his *ss if he turned out to be wrong. I don't think he wants to go there...

I think an Effexor board could be a good idea, but medications can come in and out of fashion...

I agree with what you say, but I'm playing a "long shot". Maybe what would work would be a Board for positive experiences of a med and negative ones. When I originally came to this Board I was starting Cymbalta and was "desperate" to hear of positive experiences. At the time, SLS was the only one on it and I watched as it failed. I have to wonder if this had anything to do with my failure since I am so gullible.

By the way, are you "working" for Dr. Bob now? You are all over the place. It seems that you are answering for Dr. Bob as maybe his assistant. This is not a negative statement so don't go getting upset. It's just a straight question, as I'm curious. Do you and Dr. Bob "have a thing going?". Phillipa

There have been a couple of threads about possible ways to divide the meds board up. Here is a link to one of them.

No - I am just a do gooder that isn't afraid of butting in with my 2c worth. I have been in a particularly good mood over the last week (hmm is it something approaching a manic??!) so I have been popping up just about EVERYWHERE!!! I don't mean to answer for Dr B as I am sure he is perfectly capable of answering for himself. Sometimes I think I am being helpful... Othertimes I think that peoples don't really care what I have to say, I mean if they wanted my opinion then they would direct their question to me. I expect the truth lies somewhere in between... I am going out on a limb here. I expect someone will tell me to pipe down sooner or later ;-)

>Do you and Dr. Bob "have a thing going?".

Nooooooo. He still up for grabs so far as I know if you are interested ;-)

(Now that latter bit was a joke. I have no earthly idea of anymore about him than you do. I am just here, same as you).

That might be easier in some ways, but:

> The search for truth reminds me of Hegel: it is neither the "thesis" (the claim by the manufacturer that the medication is some sort of wonder drug) nor the "antithesis" (the claim by someone who blames all their problems on the medication), but rather a "synthesis" (a sober analysis of both positive and negative aspects). Information which is balanced and fair is trustworthy, whereas that which comes from either advocacy viewpoint is suspect.

And it's more of a synthesis to keep the positive with the negative. Which is also my reservation about a side effects board...

Bob
