...that when someone is blocked for using a different name from the one they originally got blocked with, just what the first blocked name was. Are we reading provocative posts from one person, or three, or how many?

I don't understand how they do it. My husband and I both use the same computer and he wanted to be able to post with his name. I wanted to use my name. Dr. Bob said no. Only one name to an E-mail address. He did say he could use my name and then sign the post with his own. So how do they get on when they're blocked? Fondly, Phillipa

By using different computers, different ISPs, changing their IP addresses, etc.
Without going too far into the boring details of Internet Protocol addresses, you can often get a different IP address just by using dialup versus DSL, etc.
At least one of the people who is known to use a plethora of names on these boards uses different computers, like in public libraries, at friends', roommates, etc. There are as many ways as there are people trying to do it.
The bottom line, of course, is that using a different name when one is blocked is dishonest, and is damaging to everyone on these boards. This is a safe place for many of us, and having someone crash through the walls in a tank hardly creates a sense of safety.
Anyway, I'm in a rambling mood today. And this subject happens to irritate me a lot, so I'll stop now...

hello pcl, apologies for not saying hello...as for the subject matter in question, i can honestly state ``i do not know:'' there was a thread that was rather - in my opinion - over-the-line of civility and appeared to be threatening to dr. bob and perhaps myself. i cannot confirm the latter (or former, although the wording was quite direct) as i missed the subsequent posts...but better safe than sorry...
i will state for the record that the alluded-to potential poster of said posts by myself is incorrect: there is nothing zen-like about it, and i do have confirmation....my apologies to any and all (follow-up to be on social) who were subject to my speculation (second guess after a particular fan of electric shock treatment a la south of the border)....all the best, tjm
