Thanks for being open about that. I wonder if you're the only one here who's wanted a reply from me. Anybody else?

Of course, Dr. Bob. :)
I just have my own ways of going about it.
You don't mind, do you?

Less so since I met you, I must confess. I'm sure there's a psychological reason for that. It of course wasn't that you aren't as smart and funny and fascinating in person. :)
Maybe it's that you talk in complete sentences in person.

For the people hearing it, it is not easy to take, they can't do anything for you... you know? try to imagine what it would be like to hear some of the things you have emailed or posted from someone else. And Deneb this is not a critism, I am trying to help you understand how other might see you. And then you usually add, that you were not serious. That makes it even harder to folllow.

> I thinkk you need to try and put yourself on the recieving end, say I were to send you emails telling you horrible things? How would you feel, or react?I'm not 100% sure, but I think I would be scared for you. I think I would feel helpless and worry about you. This is because I know you and you're my friend. I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you.
If it were a stranger however, I think I wouldn't be as affected emotionally. I've been to bad newsgroups where that sort of thing happens daily. It feels different when people make threats here on Babble though, I care more.
Maybe I think that sending threats to Dr. Bob is OK because they do not affect him in any way, except by being an annoyance. I can't upset, anger or scare him with my threats so maybe that's why I send them to him. I think I like Dr. Bob because nothing fazes him.
> > You mean like if act on my threats and there was an investigation, he could get into trouble? I don't want Dr. Bob to get into trouble.
>
> Its more complicated, maybe you could look up threats and responsibility of others in certain professions and liabiltyYou mean there could be liability issues because Dr. Bob is an administrator and/or a pdoc?? I somehow don't think there are any liability issues if someone on a forum carries out her/his threats. Why should there be? People are not obliged to help others right?
Hmmm...I just realized this contradicts my previous posts about telling Dr. Bob to delete my address...now that I think about it, there is no need to delete anything because no one can get in trouble if I were to act on my threats...as long as someone didn't encourage me of course.
> I hope you show your pdoc, she is the best person to help you with understnding and trying to stop this.
She already knows that I make threats via e-mail to Dr. Bob. I don't think that showing her the e-mails will tell her something she didn't know.

I hope you don't mind my platonic love for you. Sorry about the craziness.
Don't worry, I would never hug you in person (unless you also give everyone else a hug :-) )
Good golly I'm insane...LOL.

All is well with the world again.
Is it OK that I love Dr. Bob? Do you think he minds? Do you think it's weird? Do you think it's like loving a brick wall? LOL

Also, could you (or anybody else who wants to join in) say more about what that experience (wanting a reply from me) was like?

Deneb, it's great that you're being so open about how you feel, but right now could you give others a chance to respond before you tell us more?

Me or Legwarmers? I wasn't sure whether you meant both of us, or just her, since you put our responses together.
And somehow right now I don't want to reply if you don't want me to.
(And yes, that was a reproval.)

Well, muffy, I certainly see where you're coming from. This thread has turned slightly creepy for me, actually :-(

Huh.
I think that request might have made me feel at least a bit shut down, and therefore a bit put down. Your response was most understanding and graceful.
I'm sure I'm projecting, and maybe more than a little. I don't suppose I ever react well to being asked to hold my thoughts, hold my tongue, don't share more, wait to tell me the rest....even temporarily.
Interesting and triggering.
{shrug} Well, Deneb, you know you can post away and as much about these questions/feelings over on Social anyway, right? You know, just in case you do have more to say but aren't sure how long you're supposed to wait for others who may or may not add anything here :-)
Or at least, I'm assuming that would be okay.

Your response was most understanding and graceful.Hmmm...I didn't feel put down by the request, should I feel put down? I just thought that Dr. Bob didn't want my responses to influence what other people write. I'm happy that Dr. Bob isn't freaked out about my loving him.
I'm not creeped out about his questions. He's just curious.
I really like how he finds it interesting that I love him.

I suspect that his interests lies more along the lines of "Transference and the on line administrator of a very large group" or "How transference affects the administration of a very large group".
I don't mind helping him out, and I don't find it creepy, but neither do I see it as anything particularly personal on his part.
Not that I have any particular insight into Dr. Bob's mind.

It's not that bad, muffled. He's not putting us in a cage and performing tests. He's just observing what happens naturally and wants to understand it better.
I'm a teeny bit surprised that he's not already familiar with the transference issues, though. I know I've already completely described my issues on Psychology. :)
There are most likely lots of people that observe anything that goes on a public internet site. Other consumers, college psych students, maybe even a few therapists have the wit to try to find out what's really going on in our brains. And maybe a few people who don't like particular posters. Dr. Bob is just interested in the dynamics of groups. Maybe other people interested in the dynamics of groups watch us too.
I've got no problem helping him with that and I'm always happy to answer any questions he has or volunteer anything I might notice (globally). It's a worthy enough goal. We even talk about it on Psychology sometimes, don't we? The effect of Babble participation?
I only mentioned it this time because how he asked his question sounded a bit funny or narcissistic if one didn't keep in mind his interest in group dynamics. And I didn't want anyone to be hurt by that.

So, to be clear, you asked
> > And, to continue, whether warm feelings or outright love for me were involved?
Because you wanted to others to show her that others could join her in her feelings, and thus feel supported by other Babblers?
Hmmm....
So you want other Babblers to tell Deneb whether they've had warm feelings or outright love for you for no reason of your own, but to support her? Am I correct there?
