Dr Bob and his mods

Posted by capricorn on August 4, 2006, at 19:14:03

Dr Bob and his mods bang on about civility but they are some of the most
bad mannered and rude people one could hope to find.
The phrase 'dragged up not brought up' springs instantly to mind.
I have to say that Dr Bob's arrogance and pathological desire to control
is in inverse proportion to his level of ethics and intelligence.
His concept of what can or can not be said without being 'uncivil' is
as
nonsensical as it is contradictory and actually stifles support.
An example of the nonsensicality of his view on civility is that he
calls
people who express that others have hurt them 'uncivil' basically
condoning
people being hurt.
The very act of denying people the right to express that they have been
genuinely hurt is in itself
an act of uncivility.
It is also a charter for legitimising the bullying of vulnerable
people.
Dr Bob is a man with a low level of conscience and responsibility
playing the role of
self appointed 'moral messiah'. A frightening combination indeed.

His rules on what are or are not civil posts are so obtuse and wide
ranging that anyone can be deemed
as 'uncivil' for the most morally and intellectually spurious of
reasons.

One thing Dr Bob's 'civility code' does do aside of letting him play
the role of 'moral messiah ' with all the
zeal of a religious fanatic is allow him to psychologically terrorise
vulnerable people and satisfy to some degree his
obsessive desire to control others.
He is quite frankly a disgrace to his profession and insults the
hippocratic oath he swore to uphold on becoming
a doctor.

I know i'll be blocked for life for these. I don't give a damn.
I would rather tell the truth and be blocked for ever than keep my mouth shut about bad people doing bad things.

Babble has helped me immensely, and I would not have been able to tolerate being here without the civility guidelines in place. I have been hurt so many times by people that I need to know there is a baseline level of 'safeness' that is going to be kept on this site in order for me to even consider posting. I would never have posted without the civility guidelines being in place, and as it is it took me almost a year before I could bring myself to post anything here. It sounds like you are having a difficult time. I hope that it passes for you and that you stay safe.

Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down. You were just blocked for one week, so I am doubling that to two weeks. Dr. Bob has oversight over deputy decisions, and he may choose a different action.

Actually, you can post that you feel genuinely hurt without impunity. Feel free to consult the FAQ ( http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil ) for examples of how to do this using appropriate "I-statements". Or please consider consulting a "civility buddy" for assistance in expressing your feelings in ways which fall within the site's guidelines.

> I know i'll be blocked for life for these.

Nope, just two weeks or perhaps three if Dr. Bob decides to increase the length. Currently block lengths are capped at one year.

Regards,
deputy gg

I'm glad you started posting. I agree with you that the civility guidelines can facilitate a sense of safety to be vulnerable and/or take a risk in posting.

GG,

I think you meant to say *with* impunity. "Without impunity" means you can be punished.

Well that's an unfortunate goof. Thanks for the correction. :)
