Sorry I keep writing. I just miss you. I don't know if I should write this on admin, but I do because you read admin more. Well, I can link it to admin by saying it's for the administrator, therefore it's admin related. LOL
Wow, I used the word admin a lot. LOL
Thanks for giving me your autograph. That was nice of you. Maybe I'll frame it. LOL
I hope you don't think it was a bad idea to hang out with us. I miss you lots, but I'm OK.
What's the saying...It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all? LOL
((((((((((((((Dr. Bob))))))))))))))))) You're a comfy feeling. Luv you.

Hey Dr. Bob,
Sorry about writing "facebook" on chat. It was an impulsive thing. I don't mean to pressure you in any way.
Llurpsie,
Thanks for breaking the 3 posts Llurpsie. LOL You know me well. I don't want to post too often. I need to save up my posts for when I really need to write them. Right now I don't feel an overwhelming need to post, but I really wanted to thank you for posting Llurpsie, that was nice of you.

:-(
Dr. Bob has time to give me a PBC, but doesn't have time to confirm me as a friend on Facebook.
I want to say I want to be dead, but I know I don't really. I just want to be dead for a little while.
I can't act out. I have to be at work and take care of my hamster and I can't worry my parents.
I don't know what to do. I can't cut because that leads to scars and I'm still waiting for the ones I have to fade. I can't OD because I need to go to work, and I can't put my family through that again. I can't die because being dead is permanent and I will want to do stuff with my life.
What can I do? :-(

Sorry to keep you (and others) waiting. I'm just trying to set up a procedure for that. Then anyone who wants will be able to be my Facebook friend. :-)

Thanks for letting me know Dr. Bob. I was starting to think maybe you didn't want to be my facebook friend.
Sorry, I think then I started taking the PBC personally, but I shouldn't because you wrote it's not because you think I'm bad. Anyways, I'm kind of immature. Sorry if I annoy you.
I'm good now. :-)
I luv you. You're the best. I like the civility rules, instead of being upset over a PBC I should do what my pdoc tells me to, to just learn from them.
At least this time I recognized I don't really want to self destruct.
Yay. Progress.

Hi Dr. Bob
I don't really get what the big deal is. Why do you need this whole complicated consent thingie? I don't need this with other facebook friends.
Since you have your profile set to friends only, none of my friends will even see your profile unless they are friends with you.
Also since anyone can be your facebook friend, that doesn't really say anything about us really. I don't think that just because we are your friend it means we have mental problems or whatever.

I agree with you Deneb. Even celebrities will accept your request with no additional stuff, and Dr. Bob is no celebrity.
I guess the bigger question would be why does he have an account in the first place with his real name if there are concerns.I guess the problem is that he doesn't want to share himself with other Babblers because even if you meet him in person, he is very reluctant to share anything personal in a social setting. We are not his patients, but I guess we are not friends either. Kinda tells where we fit in the scheme of things.

Dr.Bob is who he is.
We don't know him.
If you want so bad to be on friend list of Bob, then you gonna have to jump thru his hoops.
Just the way it is.
No reflection on you Deneb, just a reflection on who BOB is is all.
He is fairly high profile amongst his peers, and when you that way, you goto cover your *ss like crazy.
Thats all it is.> Also since anyone can be your facebook friend, that doesn't really say anything about us really. I don't think that just because we are your friend it means we have mental problems or whatever.
Like I said, he's just looking ahead to all possibilities in this crazy world and covering his butt.
Thats ALL.
Don't worry about it.

Now that I think about this, I don't understand why Dr. Bob can't be real friends with us.
Why?
The deputies can still remain objective with friends. Dr. Bob can do the same thing.
Why can't Dr. Bob be our real friends? What does Dr. Bob have to cover his butt from? Doesn't Dr. Bob trust that I won't take advantage of him?

> Why can't Dr. Bob be our real friends? What does Dr. Bob have to cover his butt from? Doesn't Dr. Bob trust that I won't take advantage of him?
Dr. Bob lives in a different world. He does not have time to be friends with everybody.
What does being 'friends' mean to you?
That you would email, chat? He doesn't have time for that.
You know Bob with his 'rules'. He has his rules and they are for all. What about me? Should he exempt me from a form? (if I even HAD facebook, which I don't).
If I wanted him to be a facebook person then I would just fill out the form, no big deal. Do you trust HIM enuf to fill out the form?
He covers his butt cuz thats what people like him do. Its a normal part of their life. Even I have liability insurance on our farm, in case someone gets hurt. Its just the way the world works.
Bob is in a diff world Deneb, don't let the idea of him hurt you.
I think he honestly has a soft spot for you Deneb, but thats it.
Find people IRL to be friends with. When you get right down to it, Bob isn't IRL is he?
Not really.
But he is the same as he always was. Nothing has changed. You can love to love him in your special Deneb way, but thats all it can be.
Its just the way life is.
Your lovely Deneb and have grown SO MUCH!!! in the time I have known you. I think you'll do fine.
Take care,
M

Thanks for explaining Muffled. That makes a lot of sense. He doesn't have time to be friends with everyone.
I don't think I should be special or anything and not have to fill out a form. I think it's fair that if we have to fill out some form that everyone has to fill it out.
I'm OK with Dr. Bob just the way he is. It's probably for the best, I'm not very good at this friend business.

OK, after thinking about it some more, I still don't get this need for informed consent.
Facebook is not an experiment, why do we need informed consent? When I think of informed consent I think of informed consent of a patient to a doctor, for medical stuff, not facebook. This doesn't make any sense.
I think my pdoc is puzzled as well. When I mentioned this informed consent thing, she seemed a bit concerned.
Dr. Bob, just b/c you're a doctor doesn't mean everyone is your patient. You don't need to act all doctor-like to everyone. Right? Am I missing something here?

OK, all I know about informed consent right now is from what I've learned in my bioethics class aka medical ethics, but perhaps informed consent covers a wider range of topics. I just did a preliminary search and found that informed consent is important in the S&M community for example. Although, comparing Facebook to S&M activities is a bit ridiculous. LOL ROFL
OK, I'm off to research all facets of informed consent.

In reply to I'm going to do some research, posted by Deneb on May 26, 2008, at 20:33:32
OK, I think I'm starting to understand. Facebook itself does have the equivalent of an informed consent form, in their Terms and Conditions. Usually most people just skip through all that small print and check the "I agree" box.
Facebook can be a risky place because you are not anonymous there. If you should write anything incriminating for example, that could be used against you. Police use social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook all the time to do investigations.
You could also get into trouble at work for writing inappropriate things etc.
Well I know this stuff and Facebook assumes you know this stuff when you check their little "agree" box, but right now Dr. Bob just wants to make sure we know, since he knows most people just skip that part.
I suppose it's nice Dr. Bob wants to make sure we know, however, I don't know why he feels the need to explain to us. He doesn't have any obligation to, does he?

Yay, Dr. Bob is my Facebook friend! Your profile is boring Dr. Bob. LOL
I want to interact with others who are your friends, but you don't have many friends.
I want more people to become your friend.
I feel this compulsion to send you free gifts on facebook, but I can control myself. I sent you a hamster. LOL I'll try to limit myself, I don't want to flood you with gifts. Plus it might seem obsessive if all the wall posts are from me.
You probably don't check facebook all that often. I don't want to scare you with hundreds of gifts when you check back. LOL
Luv you Dr. Bob! (((((Dr. Bob))))))

Hi Dr. Bob!
I'm guessing you don't check your Facebook account very often. That's OK. I don't want you to change your habits for your Facebook friends.
I don't want to seem obsessive and write on your wall all the time, but I also want to write on your wall, so I've decided I'm going to write on your wall once a month unless someone replies. I hope this is OK with you.
Just let me know if it isn't OK.
I luv you Dr. Bob! ((((((Dr. Bob)))))) I hope you're doing well. I'm looking forward to seeing you again in May! Yay! It's going to be fun!

Hi Dr. Bob,
I started a game of Scrabulous with you. It's like Scrabble. You mentioned you played that on Facebook.
Anyways, you can choose to play or not. I realize that even if you do play it may take months for you to make a move. You probably don't have time to play games.
I'm playing with someone else too.
I probably suck at Scrabble, but it's nice to think I'm playing with you. :-)
(((((Dr. Bob)))))) Love you! Thoughts of you are like furry cuddly friends LOL, or comfy down comforters. LOL
Dr. Bob, you're part imaginary friend, part real person. I take you with me everywhere, I don't actually need to be with you in person. You're comforting.

Love you!
