Every time I download a page here at PB, I get a message saying my browser needs some kind of internet plug-in and that there's some unspecified MIME type that can't be displayed because I don't have the plug in.
The pages seem to display everything I need, but it's a pain to click that message off every time I open a new page.
Does anyone know what I should do about this?

Cass, sorry you've had no answers. Do you have an Apple? I don't know much about Apple computers any more, though that's what I started with decades ago. So anyhow, i hate to state the obvious, but just in case, did you download all the updates to both the Apple OS adn teh Safari software? There are continuous software glitches, and often that takes care of things. I don't know for sure, but I heard they were coming out with Safari for Windows based sytems (as opposed to Apple). If that's the case, if you use Safari w/Windows, then expect bugs for at least a couple of years. updates are designed to fix bugs found. Programming is hyper-meticulous, so no matter waht, there will always be bugs. Hopefully updates (to Safari) will fix it for ya.
Sorry, not a IT person..but I think MIMEs have something to do with encoding of your interent browser and media apps., so make sure you have the latest Safari updates. That sounds annoying. Let me know if you downloaded the updates, ok? I could probably find out for you if need be.

Thanks, garnet. I'm using a PC. Maybe I do just need updates, but I hesitate to do that because this computer hasn't been downloading things well lately.

The music that gets played here is in a file that needs a special plugin to run. In Safari this file type is usually played by Quicktime.
You should have Quicktime already installed if you're using iTunes and Safari. This is what one person did:Open the QuickTime Control Panel / Browser tab and click the MIME Settings button to enable the MIDI format via QuickTime.

Hey Cass-make sure you download those updates regularly. Some of them are security patches. Spyware can really slow down your computer/downloading too. Do spyware checks; here's good software (Spybot search & Destroy):

and
It's best to use more than 1 program for that, so there's 2. I think both those sites still have a free version.
