I know it is rare, and I will be making regular visits to have my enzyme levels monitored, but in the spirit of an ounce of prevention being a good thing, what supplements would help my liver out while taking pemoline (Cylert)?

Milk thistle and vitamin B complex might be a good start.
In what ways do you feel that pemoline is helping you?

A general recommendation would be milk thistle extract.
See:
http://dreampharm.com/zmilkt.aspThere are excellent links about milk thistle at the bottom of the page.
I looked high and low, and I can't find the specific mechanism by which pemoline causes liver failure, so I can only recommend a general liver protectant.
Apart from milk thistle, N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) helps ensure adequate liver glutathione function, and alphalipoic acid is a good liver supportive antioxidant.
Good luck,
Lar

It isn't working, *yet*. The first time, it kicked on after 22 days (2 days after I added B complex and DLPA, but now I am not sure if that "put me over" or not; delayed action is something that is sometimes noticed with pemoline). This cleared out a LOT of brain static, made me feel much more positive, energetic, and motivated. Then a lot of wierd stuff then happened that I don't understand yet and I stopped taking it. Things settled down, but over time the supplements became less effective. In some ways I feel like I am back where I started, but not in others.

Thanks for the links.

Were you able to find a summary of how many cases of irreversible vs. reversible liver trouble have been noted?
This is the end of the thread.
